Ambassador Gillian M. S. Bristol

A national of Grenada, Ambassador Bristol obtained two honours degrees from The University of the West Indies –a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws and she was called to the Bar in Grenada in 1990.  She also holds a Master of Arts in Global Affairs from the prestigious Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy of Tufts University, Boston, USA awarded in 2013. Ms. Bristol is multilingual, speaking English, Spanish and French, with a sound knowledge of Portuguese.

Ambassador Bristol has extensive experience in multilateral relations having served for over 20 years at the Organization of American States (OAS), Washington, DC, and as Grenada’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States of America and to Mexico, and Permanent Representative to the OAS.  During her tenure as Ambassador she chaired the Caucus of CARICOM Ambassadors in Washington, DC and held several high leadership positions at the OAS contributing to policy decisions in the advancement of the regional and hemispheric agenda.

Since 2016, she has been the Director of the Latin American-Caribbean Centre (LACC) at The University of the West Indies fostering sustainable and impactful relations with other tertiary educational institutions and governments in the region, and promoting regional and international integration in higher education.

Ambassador Bristol is a tireless patriot serving her country in a range of capacities and currently serves as the Chairperson of the Integrity Commission of Grenada.
