Dr. Alessandro Massazza

Alessandro is the Policy and Advocacy Advisor with United for Global Mental Health, where he specializes in mental health interventions in adversity settings. Before UGMH, Alessandro worked as the Research Manager in the Mental Health Evidence team at the Wellcome Trust, London, UK, and led the mental health contact for the Global Dialogues on the Intersection between Climate Change & Mental Health.

Alessandro is also an Honorary Research Fellow at the Centre for Global Mental Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he focuses on researching mental health and psychosocial support in contexts affected by adversity, such as armed conflict, natural hazards, and climate change. He worked for one year and a half as a consultant for the World Health Organization working on mental health in humanitarian settings and completed his PhD in clinical psychology at University College London focusing on disaster mental health.
